TINY TOTS PROGRAMME 2009/2010
|
 Sharon Stone Co-ordinator
Welcome to the 2009/10 season of Tiny Tots. We hope your children have a great time participating in the games and activities each week.
Something different!
The Tiny Tots program is quite different from the older children's activities. The 3-5 year olds have very different physical and emotional needs from older children. Hence the focus of the Tiny Tots program is on fun and improvement, and not on competitive achievement. The activities are more of a 'gross motor' theme, concentrating on developing running, throwing and jumping skills through the use of fun games. For example, in our first week, we played games such as Crazy Hat, where the children ran around, until they were told to stop, at which time a hat was placed on one child's head. All the other children then had to line up behind the child with the hat. The aim of this activity, apart from having fun, was to teach the children to listen to instructions, and respond effectively to them.
Encouragement trophies
Each Saturday we award Tiny Tots encouragement trophies, which children get to take home for a week. Their photo will be taken and will appear on the website, usually by Sunday afternoon. Every child will have a turn of taking these trophies home (but please remember to bring them back the following week!)

Tiny Tot dates
Tiny Tots 'compete' on the same dates as the regular Centre competitions; these dates are shown on the Coming Events page. If there is wet weather, check the website to see if the competition has been cancelled for the day. A decision to cancel is not normally made until the day itself, so the website would not be updated until early on the Saturday morning.
Finally...
The Tiny Tots start at 8.00am and finish their program at 9:30am. Don't forget a drink for your child, sunscreen and a hat. It can get very warm out there especially as we move into summer.
We do hope your children have a great season, and that you enjoy watching them have fun.
Tiny Tots Age Managers
Here are the parents who have volunteered to supervise the activities of the four tiny tots groups. There is always a need for additional help and there is an excellent Tiny Tots guide available which provides ideas for activities. So if you can follow instructions and have enthusiasm, you will be great for the role!
