Centre Awards
The club aims to encourage and reward athletes for a variety of achievements with the presentation of awards across a range of categories. These awards act as incentives to encourage athletes to work towards goals and self-improvement as well as celebrating good performance and demonstration of the club’s values.
Presentation of awards are part of the end of season event which celebrates these achievements, contributions to the club and the participation from the season. This is usually held in March/April depending on venue availability.
Perpetual Plaques: All athletes registered for the summer season will receive a perpetual plaque showing their highest level of participation at HDLAC during the summer. A plaque may be requested at end of the first season at HDLAC, then a plate is issued for all other seasons participated in. A cross country participant plate is issued for those who complete at least 2 events.
Age Group Awards
A selection of awards will be presented to athletes in each age group based on the criteria outlined below. To be eligible, athletes must attend and compete on a minimum of 60% of the available competition days for 6s to 12s age groups and 25% for 13s to 20s age groups. Awards based on an athlete's performance will use results recorded by Results HQ, character based awards will be determined by the Executive Committee with input from Age Managers and Coaches. Athletes are eligible to win only one Age Group Award, and in the case of an athlete winning Best All Round and Most Improved, the Most Improved award will go to the next best athlete.
A trophy is awarded to a boy and girl athlete in each age group who demonstrates outstanding all round performance, measured by their personal best performances across the season.
Points are calculated using the LANSW State Multi scoring system, applied to athletes’ personal best performance in each event. This scoring will be applied to all standard events for the age group, with the best and worst events removed for each athlete's calculation. The award will be presented to the athlete with the highest score. If two athletes have the same score, the results for their best and worst events will be included into the points calculation for these two athletes.
A trophy is awarded to a girl and boy athlete in each age group who has achieved the most personal bests during the season.
The first time an athlete completes the event, the result is established as their personal best. Each time they improve on this result, a personal best is registered towards their count. If two athletes have the same number of person bests, occurrences where athletes have equaled their personal best will be included.
The Best and Fairest Awards are given to a boy and girl athlete in each age group who the Age Manager, Coaches and Executive Committee feels has the following qualities: good sportsmanship, attitude, cooperation and active participation in the weekly program.
Age Managers’ recommendations are taken into account prior to a decision being made. The Executive Committee will make the final selections of award recipients.
